On Wednesday the 30th September I had the honor to hold a keynote about Industry 4.0 and the digitalization in the industry at the Embassy of France. In front of 130 guests I had the possibility to describe the importance of the digitalization in enterprises to build new digital business models and to extend the technical and economical advantage. The feedback were very positive. I reached the audience by capturing their attention and curiosity for the chances of Industry 4.0 and Smart Services.
On Thursday the 1th October we met together at the 2. FeRD Conference in the building of The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (German: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie), abbreviated BMWi.
The main topic was the international standard for eInvoice - ZUGFeRD. As the standardization is one of the "pain points" in the context of Industry 4.0 I was very curios about the current status and acceptance of this standard.
The first impression is very positive. The most important aspect for any standard is the spreading and broader use. There are EU-wide activities to establish ZUGFeRD as a global standard. And I heard also the Australian Authority is taking a look at this standard.
Also in the context of Industry 4.0 has ZUGFeRD shown its potential for the future applications. I personally remain an adherent of this standard.
