Digitalization a chance for new Economy

The "Industry 4.0" is mostly considered as technically-strategic task - both for the government as well as for many companies.

Instead, the component of the national digital economy creates the potential for a paradigm shift.
The digitalization of different areas of life allows the interfaces in the personal living environment between the Internet of Things and the Internet of Services.

Germany is playing a leading role in digitalization of the economy and society in Europe. The genuine interlocking of things and services opens up new business areas. Der sectoral level of digitalization is still very different. The assurance of the projection in the development to "Industry 4.0" is therefore rightly become a key economic policy objective.

For Industry 4.0 is digitalization only when considered in combination with automation and networking. Industry 4.0 topics are focused on the horizontal and vertical networking of people, machines, objects and ICT systems for dynamic management of complex systems.

The various worlds "physically-virtually" can interact through the establishment of uniform standards. The USA is faster in the creation of standards, because it relies on the case, solutions and company standards rather than tailored to open standards organizations, and establishes clear rules on liability in network value-added processes.

Everything is nothing if the broadband is not developed in Germany rapidly.

Event: Success in the Future of Smart Services on September 2nd 2015

Institute for Technology Management at the University of St.Gallen (ITEM-HSG) offers a smart service seminar that will take place at the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland on September 2nd 2015.

The main focus of the conference, apart from the understanding for the offering of smart services by manufacturing companies, will be individual and constructive implications as a derivation of the benchmarking results.

So you can expect a presentation of a successful practice cases and reflection of top-learnings from the benchmarking.

During this event I have got the opportunity to hold a Workshop to provide valuable insights for the following discussions.

Industrie 4.0: Exploit the potential of Smart Services correctly
Based on the results of the benchmarking done by ITEM-HSG I want to pick on only two themes:

  • potential benefits for the customers
  • potential benefits for the vendors

Both target groups has to to overcome various obstacles, and create trust and acceptance of new technologies and ideas.

When combining these two perspectives the business model is the KEY.

I am looking forward to wider talks on progress with the implementation of Smart Services!

If you would like to get involved, find out more about the registration for the event here.

Amazing speech by the Alibaba’s founder

Script:

Before you are 20 years old:  Focus on your studies and don’t be afraid of falling down. He says “Be a good student. Make enough mistakes… Any mistake is a wonderful revenue for you. When you are entering into entrepreneurship get a little experience… You fall down many times, stand up. Don’t worry. Enjoy the show.”

Between 20-30: Prefer joining small company over big ones. Small companies give more chances of learning. ”Be part of a small company. At big companies you learn processing, you are a part of big machine. At small company you learn the passion, you learn the dreams, you learn how to do lots of things at one time”, says Jack Ma.

Before 30 years: Being a young entrepreneur, you have to choose a good boss; one who gives you more chances of exploiting your talent. “It is not which company you go, it’s which boss you follow. It is very important. A good boss teaches you differently”

Between 30-40: He says, “You have to think very clearly what you are working for yourself.” During this decade you have to work by keeping in mind your own business so that you get to know which field is the best for you to work for.

Between 40-50: Do what you have experienced till 40 years. You must now be exactly aware of what you are good at. Avoid experimenting and trying new things at this time of life. “You have to do all things you are good at. Don’t jump into a new area. It may be too late. You may be successful but the rate of dying is too big.”

Between 50-60: It’s time for you to teach the future young entrepreneurs and help them excel in the field. “Work for the young people because young people can do better than you. Rely on them; invest on them making sure they turn good”

Over 60 years old: It’s the time to relax and stay away from worries related to career. Jack Ma says, “Spend time for yourself. Go to the beach… and… relax”
